How the Robux fee works
When a player buys your game pass or developer product, you get 70% of the Robux they spent. The other 30% is Roblox's Marketplace fee. So a 100 Robux pass gives you 70 Robux.
Avatar items (UGC) work differently:
- Sold in someone else's game: you get 30% as the creator. The game owner gets 40%, and Roblox keeps 30%.
- Sold in your own game: you get both parts, 30% + 40% = 70%.
- Sold in the Marketplace: you get at least 30%. If your price is higher than the lowest allowed price, your share goes up, to as much as 70%.
Uploading and publishing avatar items also has its own fees. See Marketplace fees (Roblox docs).
Last checked: October 14, 2026. Rates come from Roblox's Creator Hub. Roblox can change them, so check the docs before you set big prices.
Questions
What is the "Robux tax"?
People call it a tax, but Roblox calls it the Marketplace fee. For game passes and developer products, Roblox keeps 30% and you get 70%.
Do Roblox Plus discounts lower what I earn?
No. Roblox Plus members get a discount on things like passes and developer products, but Roblox covers that discount. You earn the same as from any other player. Roblox Plus (Roblox docs)
Why is my real number different?
A few things can change it. If you use regional pricing or price tests, some players pay a different price. Roblox also works in whole Robux, so rounding can move it by 1. Your Creator Dashboard shows what you really earned.
How do I turn Robux into real money?
Roblox has a program called Developer Exchange (DevEx). You need at least 30,000 earned Robux and must meet Roblox's other rules. We don't show the exchange rate here, because Roblox sets it and can change it. If you're under 18, ask a parent to look at the DevEx page with you.
